Labor Day 2027 is Monday, Sept. 6. Most City of Germantown offices close; for Labor Day 2026 the city ran trash, recycling and yard waste one day late for the entire week, and the 2027 schedule had not been posted. GMSD students are out for the holiday under the district’s draft calendar. The Germantown Festival came the weekend after Labor Day in 2026, Sept. 12-13; 2027 dates were not posted.

Trash pickup

For Labor Day 2026 (Sept. 7), the city’s holiday schedule said: “Collection will be delayed one day for the entire week.” Carts go to the curb by 7 a.m. on the new day. School calendar

In 2026, GMSD students also had Friday, Sept. 4, off as a professional development day, making a four-day weekend. The district’s draft 2027-28 calendar has students returning Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2027, and lists only Labor Day, Sept. 6, off that week. The calendar was still marked draft on Oct. 17, 2026. Germantown Festival (2026 details)

The Germantown Festival was Saturday, Sept. 12, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 13, noon to 6 p.m., 2026, at C.O. Franklin Park, 7745 Poplar Pike, with free admission and free bus shuttles. The city describes it as one of the longest continually running festivals in the region, with children’s rides and games, arts and crafts from nearly 400 vendors, live entertainment, food and car exhibits. Running of the Weenies, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, at the Germantown Charity Horse Show Arena: a dachshund race and costume contest hosted by the Germantown Animal Shelter.
