Tennessee grades every public school A to F. The department says School Letter Grades give “a snapshot of how each school in the state is performing, including student achievement and academic growth measures for all schools, as well as a measure of college and career readiness just for high schools.”
From the state’s 2024-25 letter grade file:
| Measure | Riverdale |
|---|---|
| Overall letter grade, 2024-25 | B (score 4.1 of 5) |
| Achievement grade | A |
| Academic growth grade | C |
| Growth of the lowest-scoring 25% of students | B |
| Overall success rate on state tests, 2024-25 | 68.2% |
The state’s spring 2026 test file has the share of Riverdale students in third through eighth grade who met or exceeded expectations on TCAP: 62.9% in English language arts, 72% in math, 72% in science and 65.6% in social studies. More than 95% of the 34 students who took the Algebra I end-of-course exam met or exceeded expectations. The 2025-26 letter grades have not been published yet.
The State Report Card page for Riverdale lists the school as a Reward School, the state’s label for high performance or improvement, and holds the full detail: results by grade and subject, chronic absenteeism and results for each group of students.
Attendance zone and feeder schools
GMSD serves residents of the City of Germantown. Check an address in the school zone locator, which shows the zoned elementary, middle and high school; the district asks families to confirm the result with Student Services.
For addresses in the Riverdale zone, the locator returns Riverdale for both the elementary and middle grades, so students stay on one campus through eighth grade instead of moving to Houston Middle. They then go to Houston High; the district’s registration page says “all elementary and middle school families are zoned to Houston High School.” Our neighborhoods guide lists the areas we found zoned for Riverdale, including Poplar Estates and English Meadows.
We found no rezoning approved by the Germantown Board of Education that changes this school’s zone.
